Welcome to 2010. While the Chinese Zodiac calendar dictates that this is the year of the Tiger, at 3ZERO3 Motorsports two thousand and ten is the year of the supercharger.  Turbochargers have long been the mainstay for Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche enthusiasts.However with the emergence of supercharger kits from companies like PES, supercharged tuning is all the rage. Love it or hate it, these new applications represent the next generation in tuning for our endeared VW, Porsche, and Audi engines. Spend a few minutes with 3ZERO3 and delve deeper into the world of supercharged tuning.

Modified turbocharged Audi’a have long been the main stay in the contemporary tuning scene. With 1.8T and 2.7T owners dominating the performance market, naturally aspirated V8 owners remained crestfallen that their only tuning options were relegated to suspension, exhaust and the like.

While turbo upgrades are effective, efficient, and energetic, there is a bit of a been-there, done-that mentality amongst the tuner crowd. Open the pages of Eurotuner or European Car magazines and you have be doing some very special to your 1.8T or 2.7T to grace the pages of either of those prominent publications. K04 and GT28RS upgrades just aren’t cutting the mustard any more.

EVERYBODY WINS !  You will never hear us herald one method of tuning to be superior to another. All forced induction tuning is cool with with us. Power is power, speed is speed, and fun is fun. PERIOD.

Both superchargers and turbochargers have their merits. Debating which system is fundamentally preffered is like debating whether a grilled 12oz filet mignon from Elways is tastier than pan seared mahi mahi from Jax, at the end of the day they’re both exquisite.

ITS NOW TIME FOR THE V8 CARS TO SHINE

From their roots in 5 cylinder turbo engines up thru the development of the 1.8T and 2.7T engines familiar to the Volkswagen and Audi families, enthusiasts had easy access to engine tuning. Software upgrades liberated inexpensive  horsepower from within the ECM. And turbo upgrades provided even more power for these platforms.

However with the introduction of the naturally aspirated 4.2L V8 into the B6 Audi S4, owners were left in wont. Suspension, exhaust, and braking upgrades were some of the only available avenues for those in need of high(er) performance.  That is until very recently……

    Do you anticipate having an overdrive pulley/ecm tweak for the new 3.0T S4? If so, will it survive on 91 or will you perhps have a light boost for 91 and a heavier boost for Octane Boosted/100 only? Planning ahead I am.

    Running 6-8psi on the intercooled cars. The performance, especially at altitude is remarkkable !

    I own one of the SC S6’s. Driven on VIR and Shenandoah, Hsport bars, RS4 rims; Stoptech brakes, Miltech exhaust and Euro shift paddles. Race driver and instructor well aware of mods/requirements and marketing needed to perfect a proper V8 upgrade.
    LOTS of Experience and comments, but want to run a few things through PES before giving an unabridged summary of the installation, and the service/support by PES.
