At long last, the eagerly awaited, anxiously anticipated, crux of the weekend was LIVE. A truly surreal day awaited each of us. As a true enthusiast the concept of partaking in a private track event in the Aspen Valley featuring Lamborghini’s, modified Porsche’s, the Ford GT40,a supercharged RS4 ( and S4), along with the Audi R8, a turbocharged Corvette Z06 and countless others, is almost too much to bear. Join us as we relive this day of unparalleled automotive excellence…..
RISE AND SHINE
Everyone was up early saturday morning, some because they had an early safety meeting to attend, others simply too excited to sleep. While Robb Holland and Bill Nuccio conducted the drivers meeting for Lamborghini Club members at the Viceroy, 3ZERO3 Staff was up setting up the car show on the Snowmass Mall.

Sitting still at a drivers meeting is nearly impossible. With thoughts of apex clipping, and trail braking bouncing thru divers heads, you will see a lot of fidgeting in those seats.

Ready for some track action !

No IF’S about it, gas guzzler taxes absolutely apply to these Bulls
There were a few complaints voiced while refueling at the gas station, but they had nothing to do with fuel price:
“No 100 Octane !? What is this Russia ?,” -Matt Collins, 2007 Supercharged Audi RS4.
APSEN SPORTS CAR CLUB
The road race track at Aspen Motorsports Park is 1.1 miles in length. It features 8 corners, 3 of which are left hand corners and 5 right hand corners. The track is 30 feet wide with 20 feet of grassy run off areas on the straights and deeper run off areas on the corners with segmented tire walls. The track also features 20 feet of elevation change known as the spillway.
On Saturday we had the whole place to ourselves, and we made the most of every inch of the track.
Seeing these cars in a magazine is enough to make me stop what I’m doing, and soak in every word. On the track, uninhibited by traffic. or law, these exotics were left to run wild.
With more than a couple tricky corners, drivers were thankful for the instruction of Robb Holland, Lea Croteau, and Alex Nelsen.

Lined up coming out of pit lane.

Turn 7 was great to watch: a complex sweeping hairpin, that if you get wrong, will hurt you.

Bulls on parade.

The big dogs cooling off.

Alex Nelsen giving some last minute instruction to Matt before he rockets off again in the RS4.

Ripping thru the corners.

Looking at this photograph, you can almost hear the supercharger whine, and exhaust growl.

Matt generously giving some seat time to the man whose hands built his ‘Baby’.
Aaron quickly makes the most of the opportunity and throws it deep in the corner !

Kevin Duncan gets on the brakes before turn 4.

Kevin took great care in modifying his 911 Turbo Cab.
Executing not only full menu of performance modifications, this Turbo also highlights a thoughtfully realized exterior enhancement package.

Lori showing how the girls get it done in her S4 Cab.

Check Lori’s head position, as she is looking precisely where she aims to place the car coming out of the corner.Well done Lori !

Pearls 997TT here driven by her nephew Jeffrey, proved to be unflappable in a full day of hard driving.

Gorgeous.

Hugging the line thru the corner.

Jeffrey getting it done.

The 911 Turbos make a very distinctive induction roar as the variable geometry turbines suck in the mountain air at full boil.

SINFONIA BELLA !
As Nick Sauers Gallardo approaches its 8100RPM redline, we are all showered with a 10 cylinder oracular bombardment.

Kevin turning into turn 3, eyes on the apex.

Murcielago is ready to take flight.

( Speechless)

Big V8’s suffer from depleted oxygen at altitude, and this would be true of Alex Nelsen’s Z06, that is if you have failed to take notice of the twin rear mounted turbo chargers feeding the beast !
Visit Rocky Mountain Corvette to see more of Alex’s outrageously remarkable work.

The big bodied Challenger made quick work of the track.

Roy curtails the behemoth through the corners.

The Italian fighting Ford GT40 giving us a great tour of the track

Hugh Morrow has been driving this race track ever since his 1974 Porsche 911 Targa was showroom new.

Look closely as Hugh begins to boil his inside tire.
Many cars had more power than Hugh’s ‘74, but few were much faster.
His 911 was fighting above its weight all day long.

Paul Quaiser’s Imola Avant leads the run group in this session.

Many thanks again to our talented photographers, not only Adam Mattivi, but Joe Donkel and Marty Lowandowski who all made significant contributions to the images captured.

A very cool edit from Joe Donkel on Sonny’s 996 TT.

Willis ‘Hot Shoe’Wood playing cat and mouse with the Audi boys.

Willis really tested the limits of adhesion in corner 7, making his passenger utterly silent.
Soon after Willis pitted politely and allowed Jessica Elkan out.

Great shot of the hairpin.

CAR SHOW :
While all of the drivers were at the race track there was a full blown car show and expo area on the Snowmass Mall. Many thanks to those vendors and sponsors that helped contribute to this event :

Great shot of the R8 Marty !

The 3ZERO3 Motorsports display looking sprightly as always.

I have no idea how much the R8 carbon fiber package costs, but I will say that at any price, IT’S WORTH IT!

The ropes and barriers are there for a reason.

The crowds beginning to form.

Looking like a cover for DuPont Registry Magazine.

Even the Turner children’s toys reflect their parents taste.

Coolest LEGO ever !

Thoroughly modified.
NIGHT FALLS ON SNOWMASS VILLAGE
After a long day of driving, car shows, and general amazingness, there was still a full evening schedule of events. After everyone washed the race dust off, we rejoined for dinner at Sneakys Tavern in Base Village. Soon there after night fell and the Exotic Car party was upon us. With the exotic cars proudly displayed under the lights in the village, we made our way to Basecamp Bar and Grille and reveled in the ensuing party.

Alfresco dining…..

Mouths to be fed !

There was no age restrictions or dress code enforced at the ‘Kids Table’, however a fun loving personality was required.

Bud, Shana and Max posing for the camera.

The show continues…..

True midnight marauders.

Mood lighting indeed.

This is the life.

Patented low angle shots.

Matt Collins approach to vehicle customization leaves no stone unturned. His amazing multimedia installation by Highline Audio is unrivaled in its fit and finish.

Clean and clever lighting techniques highlight the massive sub-woofers.
