5000 Robb St,  near I-70 and Kipling will not be a place where our dreams are born, rather it will be a place where our dreams take flight.

The layout of the new building allows us the opportunity to define a primary workspace, as well as dedicated spaces for the alignment rack, and inspired specialty project area.

Staying on trend with an increasingly productive customer base, the new waiting room is more than couches, television, and magazines. There are now multiple  dedicated work stations where you can work while watching us work.

When you have a state of the industry alignment rack like we do, you give this piece of specialized equipment room to breathe. Our ALIGNMENT RACK will receive a zero clearance installation allowing even the lowest of lowered vehicles to be driven straight on.

BACK TO REALITY

Bright eyed and bushy tailed would not be the way I would have described the Automobili Exotica crew when day broke on Sunday July 25th. Rich food, loud music, and impressive libations had taken their toll on the gang.

But outside the hotel room door, the maids were knocking, inside the room  alarms was going off, and the sun was up….. time to go home boys & girls.

The days events from Friday and Saturday had left us all feeling euphoric. The High Country, Lamborghini’s, Porsches, Boosted  Audi’s, track time, parties, where were we exactly :

• Snowmass?

• Had we died and gone to Automotive Heaven ?

• Or were we dreaming ?

Regardless of wherever we thought we were, we knew our time had come. Time to go home, back to work, back to reality, back to driving on the I-25 corridor, not Independence Pass, back to being surrounded by Camry’s not Murcielago’s.

So we packed our bags. Wished the hotel staff adieu, loaded our bags, donned our shades, and headed out.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

As soon as we rounded the first corner onto Independence Pass, all loathing had subsided. The adventure was real again, and we had our work cut out for us.

We were road warriors once more.

Stacy Berger, we don’t know how you do it. Watching Aaron slide ( expertly we might add) his S4 around the unguarded hairpin turns of Independence Pass makes us terrified from a distance, let alone imagining what the in car experience must be like. You Stacy Berger, are a champion !

The Italians, the RS4 and R8 crowd had made a very early departure on Sunday morning. Leaving a more compact, and brand unified run group back to Denver.

What is EuroBerge ?

EuroBerge Magazine was started in 2008 by Richard Melick and Micheal Selander with the idea of creating an online newsletter that would cover the mutliple car clubs in Colorado that gear towards European motoring.  With the help of a great group of friends, Richard and Mike were able to take this idea and produce the very first issue of EuroBerge, a 10 page spread of photos and articles covering just a few little events.  Since then, we as a group have pushed each other, be it in layout and design to article writing, to set a standard of over 60 pages of publication being produced every quarter.

Eric Deherrera’s GT28RS powered Audi TT learns a lesson in hyper agressive throttle inputs mid-corner. When you are running  30PSI manifold pressure, best to just  roll on the throttle when you are in the middle of a down hill kink. Well thankfully for Eric, the only painful part of this lesson was cleaning the 32LBS of dirt and debris from inside his otherwise immaculate interior.

It was a long hot day in Fountain Colorado, as Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche enthusiasts bathed amongst acres of lowered, colorful, modified, and otherwise hip machinery. This years attendees did not disappoint, providing hours of  detail hunting, and fun photography. From the air conditioned comfort of your internet, take a quick cruise through this years Dubs Along the Rockies ( DATR) show.

3ZERO3 DISPLAY

Never content to rest on our laurels, there was much to see in our display.Our goal for this year was more museum exhibition and less trade show display, and we think we pulled it off.

In between the two Audi coupes sat a new 42″ HDTV, where we displayed images and video of past events. There were alot of people drooling not only over the cars on the display, but we met a few people who were genuinely upset, that they learned about the Snowmass Automobili Exotica only after the fact.

Old School & New School

The  contemporary Audi R8 juxtaposed by a 1985 Audi Coupe Quattro did a lot of interesting things for crowd watchers.

Over the years  the DATR  crowd has become increasingly diverse.  With attendees spanning from those too young to be licensed to those that are, shall we say very experienced drivers and across socio-economic boundaries as well ( all great things). This years crowd unquestionably represented all colors of the VW  rainbow.

Watching the various people walk up to the the Coupe Quattro and the R8 cars was a curious event. People would stop in their tracks as soon as they entered the garage, and often with a hand over their mouths, eye ball each of the cars individually.  Then, seemingly instinctively, they would approach each of the cars and begin their own personal inspection.

• One of these people is genuinely interested in learning about REVO Technik software.

• The other is his girlfriend.

The Supercharged Champion

Matthew Collins supercharged RS4 was mobbed with onlookers from the moment the show started, until the last trophy was handed out. The PES supercharged, Stasis suspended, Methanol injected RS4 was proudly displaying its latest set of modifications for the weekend show:

• Stoptechs 380MM front and 355MM rear big brake kits.
• Highline Audio custom stereo, video, camera, and radar detection installation.
• European spec seats, and European spec headlights  BOTH with body color matched paint.

From Nebraska with Love.

Great taste and a historical perspective led to the recreation of these vintage VW pieces.

Zeke, Zeb and Tiffany make the drive every year from Nebraska to attend DATR.  This year they brought not one but TWO enclosed trailers. To all of you complaining about the long drive back to Denver at the end of the day, contemplate pulling a 15 foot trailer for another 3 hours.

Zekes freshly painted helmet helps tell the story of Zeke’s Oval Window Bug. This Beetle is no trailer queen, this is a dragster. When asked how fast the car was Zeke knowingly smiled and replied :

“I’m not sure exactly how fast this thing is. AT 10psi, the car was running 12’s @ 124MPH. At 20psi we were still smoking the tires at 1/2 track. But trapping @ 130MPH+”. -Zeke Peterson

The Turbo Beetle S, like its air-cooled brethren, is purpose built.

The brakes, suspension, and turbo kit keep Zeke at the front of the class not only on the show circuit, but also while road racing. Listening to Zeke and Zeb tell stories of sanctioned racing on local highways at triple digit speeds is great. Imaging the black Beetle taking on American muscle cars on the open roads, makes us proud.

With the amount of jeering, focused gazing, and explicit language coming from this corner of the show, you would have expected that a live World Cup match was playing in the back of this Mk5 GTI.

Nope, no live soccer here just  Play Station. But these guys were having a ball.

There’s a motor hiding back there.

We love these inventive displays.

Not everyone has the budget for air suspension, custom turbo set ups and the like. But these boys from Chicago made the most of what they had with a creative rack display on their Mk3 Jetta. When asked they said the display was inspired by their trials and tribulations of their journey from the mid-west. Anyone that has had a mechanical failure on a road trip knows their pain.  They used that energy in the creation of this rack display, and we applaud that type of creativity.

Trendy…… for now.

The red lowering spring hood prop was a great idea when we first started seeing it on cars at shows in years past. Like most well conceived and cost effective  tricks such as this, it has become severely overdone in the years since. At car shows every year we always watch as new trends are born, and others die off.

And the Winner is……………..

Impressed, but not surprised.

Hard to imagine that there is a finer B7 RS4 anywhere on the planet. Matthew Collins gratefully accepted another trophy for his RS4. I wonder when Matt will ever get his car in a magazine ?????

Two cars, two trophies.

Zeke’s oval window Beetle saw some new, and very clean competition this year. While we always want to bring home the championship hardware, sometimes coming in second place ain’t half bad.

Champion indeed.

The GT28RS fed, Bilstein PSS9 Suspended, Methanol injected 1.8 Turbo Beetle took home top honors in its class. Giving Zeke a trophy for each hand, and more hardware for the new basement. Congrats !

As the Dubs Along the Rockies show is now behind us, the end of summer draws near. It has been an action packed summer season at the shop, but its not over yet ! RISE AND SHINE

Everyone was up early saturday morning, some because they had an early safety meeting to attend, others simply too excited to sleep. While Robb Holland and Bill Nuccio conducted the drivers meeting for Lamborghini Club members at the Viceroy, 3ZERO3 Staff was up setting up the car show on the Snowmass Mall.

Sitting still at a drivers meeting is nearly impossible. With thoughts of apex clipping,  and trail braking bouncing thru divers heads, you will see a lot of fidgeting in those seats.

There were a few complaints voiced while refueling at the gas station, but they had nothing to do with fuel price:

“No 100 Octane !?  What is this Russia ?,” -Matt Collins, 2007 Supercharged Audi RS4.

APSEN SPORTS CAR CLUB

The road race track at Aspen Motorsports Park is 1.1 miles in length.  It features 8 corners, 3 of which are left hand corners and 5 right hand corners.  The track is 30 feet wide with 20 feet of grassy run off areas on the straights and deeper run off areas on the corners with segmented tire walls.  The track also features 20 feet of elevation change known as the spillway.

On Saturday we had the whole place to ourselves, and we made the most of every inch of the track.

Seeing these cars in a magazine is enough to make me stop what I’m doing, and soak in every word. On the track, uninhibited by traffic. or law, these exotics were left to run wild.

With more than a couple tricky corners, drivers were thankful for the instruction of Robb Holland, Lea Croteau, and Alex Nelsen.

Turn 7 was great to watch: a complex sweeping hairpin, that if you get wrong, will hurt you.

Big V8’s suffer from depleted oxygen at altitude, and this would be true of Alex Nelsen’s Z06, that is if you have failed to take notice of the twin  rear mounted turbo chargers feeding the beast !

Hugh Morrow has been driving this race track ever since his 1974 Porsche 911 Targa was showroom  new.

Look closely as Hugh begins to boil his inside tire.

Many cars had more power than Hugh’s ‘74, but few were much faster.

His 911 was fighting above its weight all day long.

NIGHT FALLS ON SNOWMASS VILLAGE

After a long day of driving, car shows, and general amazingness, there was still a full evening schedule of events. After everyone washed the race dust off, we rejoined for dinner at Sneakys Tavern in Base Village. Soon there after night fell and the Exotic Car party was upon us. With the exotic cars proudly displayed under the lights in the village, we made our way to Basecamp Bar and Grille and reveled in the ensuing party.

There was no age restrictions or dress code enforced  at the ‘Kids Table’, however a fun loving personality was required.
